Description:
This is an art piece made by, Claes Oldenburg and his wife,
Coosje van Bruggen. It is a giant metal spoon with a cherry in it. The
sculpture was erected in 1985. The spoon is also a bridge into the center of a pond.
It also weighs approximately 7,000lbs total. The cherry on the spoon shoots
water out of the stem into the little pond that it’s in.
Analysis:
This piece is able to catch a person’s eye by drawing their
attention towards the big red cherry on the rim of the spoon.
Interpretation:
I actually don’t know how to interoperate this.
Judgment:
It is a spoon with a cherry on the tip of it, but I think it looks like a lot of time went into it.
